We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer a part-time paid position as a Volunteer Coordinator with Kildare Wildlife Rescue. This position is offered for a 12 month period and will be reviewed periodically.
As this opportunity was made possible thanks to a grant from Heritage Organisations Support Fund 2025, the successful candidate will be required to document their work and its impact for review by The Heritage Council.
Time Period, Hours and Pay
- Start date: Immediate
- Duration: 12 months
- Pay: €15 per hour
- Total amount of funding allocated for the 12 month period: €14,000
- Hours and schedule: Flexible. There will be an estimated 70 - 80 work hours a month available for this position. Work hours will be scheduled at least a week in advance.
- Type of payment: The successful candidate will be on KWR's payroll, details of gross vs net salary and annual leave TBC
- Location: Kildare Wildlife Rescue, Grey Abbey Rd, Greyabbey, Kildare, R51 X338, remote work would be an option for administrative work
Volunteer Coordinator's Role
This position is ideal for a candidate with experience in administration or volunteer management who is interested in applying their skills to support the growth and development of Kildare Wildlife Rescue’s Volunteer Program. The Volunteer Program oversees the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and support of over 200 volunteers participating in a range of positions both on and off site. The Volunteer Coordinator will support the coordination and day-to-day running of the Volunteer Program.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
- Management and maintenance of KWR Volunteer Database
- Creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures and program materials
- Contributing ideas to improve volunteer engagement and recognition, and assist in their implementation
- Scheduling
- Gathering and monitoring volunteer feedback to initiate program growth
- Development and assisting the Volunteer Program with projects, as needed

- Customer service or other public-facing experience
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people with a wide variety of skills, experiences, and expectations
- Ability to motivate others
- Reliability, resourcefulness and ability to solve problems
- Self-motivation and diligence
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to quickly learn new computer skills
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner including the ability to respond professionally to emails and write Standard Operating Procedures
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and project management skills
- Able to work under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanor
- Ability to complete tasks independently with little supervision and meet deadlines when working remotely
- Proven ability to follow instructions and administrative protocols
- Personal volunteering experience
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and wildlife conservation
- Previous experience working or volunteering with wildlife is a plus but not a requirement
- This role is a part-time position requiring flexibility within the working week and locations

- Experience with volunteer management, HR or recruitment
- Knowledge of Better Impact, or other similar volunteer management software
- Office administration experience
